KALYMNOS FUEL ENGINEERING presents its specially designed Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU) coupler, a critical component for the safe and environmentally compliant recovery of fuel vapours during refueling operations.
Purpose & Function
This coupler connects the fuel dispenser to the service station’s vapour recovery system. Its purpose is to effectively capture petrol vapours displaced from the tank during filling, preventing their release into the atmosphere and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Key Design Features
Robust One-Piece Construction: Integral coupler body made from aluminum casting EN AW-42000 for lightweight durability and corrosion resistance.
Visual Flow Verification:Two side-mounted sight glasses for immediate and clear visual monitoring of flow and connection verification.
Positive Seal Mechanism: Integrated clapper valve system ensuring a tight seal and preventing vapour leakage when the coupler is not in use. Includes:
Durable aluminum clapper assembly.
Pressure spring made of stainless steel AISI 302.
Sealing O-ring from FKM (Viton) for fuel compatibility.
Connection & Compatibility: Features a female A5 4″ connection, the standard interface for vapour recovery systems, ensuring full compatibility with existing dispensers and station infrastructure.
High-Specification Materials: All key components are manufactured to European standards, including:
Main Structural Parts: Aluminum castings (EN AW-42000, EN AC-47100, EN AW-2007)
Critical Moving Parts: Brass and stainless steel for strength and resilience
Seals:FKM (Viton 75-80 Shore A) for maximum fuel compatibility and long service life
Fasteners: Galvanized steel, grade 8.8
Standardized Components: Use of standardized hardware (e.g., DIN 2098 springs, DIN 3771 O-rings, DIN 472 retainers) for guaranteed quality, easy maintenance, and replacement.
Namur Sensor Unit (PS Version): Equipped with an industrial-grade sensor suitable for hazardous areas, featuring a protective coating.
